Trusting God in the Toughest Times

February 2, 2026

Sometimes life feels unfair. When you’re hurt, disappointed, or watching as someone else benefits from what you worked hard for, it doesn’t seem right. And it is hard.

But here’s the truth: God is a God of justice.

Trusting Through It, Not Just for It

We often pray for specific things like a raise, better health, or a breakthrough. But God calls us to also trust Him through challenges.

When we lean on Him during hardship, we learn a secret.

Joy isn’t only for when life is perfect. Joy can be found, even in hard times.

When life isn’t fair, what do you do? Stay trapped in bitterness or release it and trust God to make things right?

Choosing to trust Him is a powerful step of faith.

God Was My Vindicator

After a childhood filled with pain, abuse, neglect, and instability in a home that felt unsafe, many of us think marriage would heal those wounds. But that often leads to more hurt, betrayal, cheating, and even crime.

Carrying bitterness from childhood and a deep belief that “someone owes me” can lead you to try to make people pay back what others stole.

But everything changes when you discover God’s justice through Scripture, especially in Isaiah 61:7 (ESV): “Instead of your shame you shall receive a double portion… everlasting joy.”

That verse teaches that people may never repay you, but God promises justice.

From Pain to Double Joy

Over time, God can turn pain into purpose. He opens doors never imagined, places you in roles where you become a voice of influence, and surrounds you with love and honor, often where you once felt completely unworthy.

Close your eyes and feel Him say, “Because people mistreated you, I will give you a place of honor.”

God wants this for you. He can do this for you.

What This Means Today

As you face injustice at work, in relationships, or even within your own family, here’s some encouragement:

  • Don’t clutch your hurt or push forward in bitterness.
  • Choose to let go and trust God to be your vindicator.
  • Walk in freedom, knowing He’ll pay you back, and often, with double joy.

Nothing is too small or too big for Him to fix. He sees you. When you trust Him, He’ll bring justice at the right time.

Takeaway

Whatever you’re going through, you’re not alone and definitely not overlooked. God cares. He’s watching. He’s ready to bring justice, healing, and joy into your life. Trust Him.
